A friend and I had a Facebook dialog yesterday that was precipitated by a news story<\/a>\u00a0about a couple whose 11 year-old daughter died of a curable diabetic condition while they and a group of people chose to pray rather than seek medical treatment. This friend, who is at least agnostic (possibly atheist), posed an interesting question during the course of our dialog. He wrote:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/div>\n

“So, at what point does believing become poor judgement?” When do you say, “Well obviously God isn’t going to help here?”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n


<\/span><\/div>\n
Later in the conversation he remarked:<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n

“Well the question then begs, where does faith end and common sense prevail? And does the moving line in the sand, and the ability to pick and choose what’s wrong and right based on your own decisions, make you any more or less your own person at the end of the day?<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n


<\/span><\/div>\n

Remember, the Bible clearly states thou shall not kill, but also clearly states that children who disobey their parents should be stoned to death.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n


<\/span><\/div>\n

We pick and choose which parts of the Bible, which parts of our lives, we wish to live by.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n


<\/span><\/div>\n

Faith or no faith your decisions, good or bad, are yours.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
