Dreams are a Wish\u00a0Your Heart Makes Yes, these words are found in the Disney classic Cinderella,\u00a0the quintessential underappreciated un-recognized person, who remembers with\u00a0the help of her Fairy Godmother that dreams do come true and to never stop\u00a0dreaming regardless of circumstance, and, yes it feels like a statement of deep\u00a0truth… “Dreams are a wish our hearts make.”<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

On p. 555 of James\u00a0Melvin Washington’s massive towering The Testament of Hope: The Essential\u00a0Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr. references Where do we go from\u00a0here: Chaos or Community? In which Mr. Washington describes Dr. King’s work on this particular book as the toughest project he ever pursued as he had to
\nreconcile the despair over the gap between legislation being enacted granting\u00a0rights and the prejudice being perpetrated around the country negating the\u00a0spirit of universal equal rights.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

I have been\u00a0fortunate in my life to have achieved my childhood dreams and to have helped so\u00a0many others achieve theirs.\u00a0 The one\u00a0quality that made the difference was having a vision and never giving up no\u00a0matter what.\u00a0 Holding the dream as the\u00a0reality and acting as if, onward through what appeared to be darkness and\u00a0disappointment.\u00a0 I am grateful for all\u00a0the ways these dreams were fulfilled and the ways in which they have given me a\u00a0strength of character and an integrity of understanding in what it takes to\u00a0realize a dream personally and collectively. I know how important dreams are to\u00a0making significant shifts in society.\u00a0Dreams strengthen character and build a foundation of honesty and open\u00a0up the imagination of possibility to deliver magnificent experiences and\u00a0occurrences beyond anything expected.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

It is important to\u00a0have a dream, to set your sights on that which only your heart sees, currently\u00a0invisible to the registry of the eye.\u00a0 It\u00a0is the magic and miracle of allowing that which is in you but not of you to\u00a0give wings to your souls calling.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

“The word\u00a0“Cinderella” has, by analogy, come to mean one whose attributes are\u00a0unrecognized, or one who unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a\u00a0period of obscurity and neglect.” There have been countless tellings of\u00a0this story. I experience it more times than I would like to admit. It\u2019s one of\u00a0those archetypal myths that most of the planet resonates with\u2026 Who doesn\u2019t want\u00a0to transcend their cur-rent circumstances and without changing any of the\u00a0outward circumstances experience a full recognition of the truth.\u00a0 We are powerful beyond measure.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

Always we ask what\u00a0will become of us, instead we need to ask what do I need to do in this moment\u00a0to be loving to myself and those in my life, what dream does my heart want to\u00a0unfold making the biggest difference to myself, my community and the\u00a0planet?\u00a0 At no time in the history of\u00a0humanity has it been more important to listen to the answer and remember the\u00a0truth.\u00a0 Our thoughts create our reality\u00a0and if we are not thinking with Love we are not living the truth.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

Dreams are wishes\u00a0our hearts make.\u00a0 Today and\u00a0everyday.\u00a0 Have a dream.\u00a0 Stay open and be willing, do not lose hope in\u00a0your dreams and have faith in the unseen to carry you through.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

We can\u2019t change\u00a0the circumstances that happen but we can stand in the truth and be loving in\u00a0each interaction in the world. Looking everyone in the eye and say \u201cHello\u201d from\u00a0my heart to theirs. I can be kind each day in each moment and I can remember\u00a0each person is experiencing at least the level of anxiety uncertainty and misunderstanding\u00a0that I am.\u00a0 I can choose to be open to\u00a0not knowing and be compassionate.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

Martin Luther King\u00a0Jr. often said “there is a power in our hearts more powerful than the\u00a0power of bullets” … and today in the land of the free and the home of\u00a0the brave it’s never been more important to re-member.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
