First steps.\u00a0 On this day being honored as #DreamDay it is helpful to look at what is working in the world.\u00a0 Honor how far we have come and take today to celebrate all of our collective dreams!\"Handle<\/a><\/p>\n

It is time to remember…<\/p>\n

“Dreams are a wish the heart makes!”<\/p>\n

Yes, these words are found in the Disney classic Cinderella, the quintessential underappreciated unrecognized person, who remembers with the help of her Fairy Godmother that idea to never stop dreaming regardless of circumstance, and, yes it feels like a statement of deep truth… “Dreams are a wish our hearts make.”<\/p>\n

For\u00a0a recent\u00a0birthday, I\u00a0gave myself the gift of\u00a0James Melvin Washington’s The Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0In opening the massive book upon its arrival\u00a0it fell open to p. 555 Where do we go from here:\u00a0Chaos\u00a0or Community?<\/em> in which\u00a0James Melvin Washington describes Dr. King’s work on this\u00a0particular book\u00a0as the toughest\u00a0project Dr. King ever pursued as\u00a0he had to\u00a0reconcile the despair over the gap between legislation being enacted granting basic human rights\u00a0and the prejudice being perpetrated around the country negating the spirit of universal equal rights.<\/p>\n

I have been fortunate in my life to have achieved my childhood dreams and to have helped so many others\u00a0achieve theirs.\u00a0 The one quality that made the difference was never giving up.\u00a0 Holding the dream as the reality and acting as if, onward through what appeared to be darkness and disappointment.\u00a0 I am grateful for all the ways these dreams were fulfilled and the ways in which they have given me a strength of character and an integrity of understanding in what it takes to realize a dream personally and collectively. I know how important dreams are to making significant shifts in society.\u00a0 Dreams strengthen character and build a foundation of honesty and integrity and open up the imagination of possibility to deliver magnificent experiences and occurrences beyond anything expected.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0is important to have a dream, to set your sights on that which only your heart sees, currently invisible to the registry of the eye.\u00a0 It is the magic of allowing that which is in you but not of you to give wings to your souls calling.\"powerful_1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

“A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep.
\nIn dreams you will lose your heartaches.
\nWhatever you wish for, you keep.
\nHave faith in your dreams, and someday,
\nyour rainbow will come smiling through.
\nNo matter how your heart is grieving,
\nif you keep on believing,
\nthe dream that you wish will come true.”<\/p>\n

“The word “Cinderella” has, by analogy, come to mean one whose attributes are unrecognized, or one who unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a period of obscurity and neglect.”<\/p>\n

There have been countless tellings of this story. I experience it more times than I would like to admit. It’s one of those archetypal myths that most of the planet resonates with… Who doesn’t want to transcend their current circumstances and without changing any of the outward circumstances experience a full recognition of the truth.\u00a0 We are powerful beyond measure.<\/p>\n

Always we ask what will become of us, instead we need to ask what do I need to do in this moment to be loving to myself and those in my life, what dream does my heart want to unfold making the biggest difference to myself, my community\u00a0and the planet?\u00a0 At no time in the history of humanity has it been more important to listen to the answer and\u00a0remember the truth.\u00a0 Our thoughts create our reality and if we are not thinking with Love we are not living the truth.<\/p>\n

Dreams are wishes our hearts make.\u00a0 Today and everyday.\u00a0 Have a dream.<\/p>\n

Stay open and be willing, do not lose hope in your dreams and have faith in the unseen to carry you through.<\/p>\n

We can’t change the circumstances that happen but we can stand in the truth and be loving in each interaction you have in the world.\u00a0 I can look everyone in the eye and say \u201cHello\u201d from my heart to theirs. I can be kind each day in each moment and I can remember each person is experiencing at least the level of anxiety uncertainty and misunderstanding that I am.\u00a0 I can choose to be open to not knowing and be compassionate.<\/p>\n

Martin Luther King Jr. often said “there is a power in our hearts more powerful than the power of bullets” … and today in the land of the free and the home of the brave it’s never been more important to remember.<\/p>\n

Love always remains the answer.<\/p>\n

In remembering this we stand in the power of humanities greatest gift. The gift of Love.<\/p>\n

Unleashed.<\/p>\n

BELIEVE IT!<\/p>\n

Peace is a commitment we make every day. A commitment to accepting everyone in all their glory and all their flaws, as brothers.<\/p>\n

Where we got it wrong. We’re going to make a correction. And get it right.<\/p>\n

It is time to make a shift.\u00a0 Right now and there are No Limits in what is possible.\u00a0 Each of us is in the perfect position to achieve the sort of inner peace heretofore unheard of.\u00a0 Lasting sustainable peace on earth.<\/p>\n

BE INSPIRED.\u00a0 BE LOVING.\u00a0 BE YOU.<\/p>\n

May all your dreams and wishes miraculously materialize as you enjoy this gorgeous day.<\/p>\n

Can’t wait to hear the outcomes of the dreams and wishes you make today and everyday.\u00a0 May your Cinderella moments of remembering the deeper truth bring you exactly where you are meant to be.<\/p>\n
