{"id":2794,"date":"2012-09-13T10:27:19","date_gmt":"2012-09-13T10:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/fellowshipofsaintsandsinners\/?p=2794"},"modified":"2018-07-19T20:25:04","modified_gmt":"2018-07-19T20:25:04","slug":"stubborn-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/fellowshipofsaintsandsinners\/2012\/09\/stubborn-love.html","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Stubborn Love&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s musical feature comes much in the same spirit of Andrew Sullivan&#8217;s &#8220;Mental Health Breaks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chalk it up to the Scottish side of my family, but I guess I have a weakness for folk rock bands that magically blend some combination of violins, fiddles, mandolins, or tambourines (think Mumford &amp; Sons). \u00a0This Denver-based band, The Lumineers, and their new release, &#8220;Stubborn Love,&#8221; has me moving this morning, (and that&#8217;s saying something since right now it&#8217;s 6:18am, minutes before I scramble off to wake up sleepy children, make breakfast and race to sit in an intro-to-preaching class for fresh-faced seminarians.)<\/p>\n<p>I love these lines:<\/p>\n<p><em>It&#8217;s better to feel pain, than nothing at all<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The opposite of love&#8217;s indifference<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And then these:\u00a0<em>So keep your head up, keep your love<\/em><br \/>\n<em>keep your head up, my love\u00a0[x2]<\/em><br \/>\n<em>keep your head up, keep your love<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>It seems to me God wants lovers. \u00a0<em>Stubborn<\/em> ones. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Lumineers -
