How sweet the sound.<\/strong> I spent yesterday (6\/2) morning attending a musical presentation by the cast of the upcoming Broadway show Amazing Grace<\/em><\/a>\u00a0 featuring songs from the production which begins previews at the Nederlander Theatre<\/a> on June 25th. The play tells the true story of John Newton (Josh Young<\/a>) , the son of a slave trader who became a slave ship captain before a powerful storm at sea led him to embrace his Christian faith. He would go on to become a major force in the British abolitionist movement and to write the timeless inspirational song from which the show takes its title.<\/p>\n I can tell you that judging from what I saw and heard yesterday, this looks like Broadway’s next Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em><\/span>. In other words, get your tickets now.\u00a0 I’ll be posting an interview with producer\u00a0Carolyn Rossi Copeland<\/a> next week.<\/p>\n BTW, Amazing Grace<\/em> just finished a critically-acclaimed and commercially-successful test run in Chicago.\u00a0 Here are some clips from that production.
