Comedy writer Tom Leopold (<i>Cheers<\/i>, <i>Seinfeld<\/i>) will host the broadcast and provide commentary throughout. Leopold, whose daughter has struggled with anorexia, won the Christopher Spirit Award in 2014 for his work in support of\u00a0 families struggling with eating disorders.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1432294636423_30789\" class=\"yiv7119936042MsoNormal\">Created in 1949, the Christopher Awards are presented to writers, producers, directors, authors and illustrators whose work \u201caffirms the highest values of the human spirit.\u201d The Christopher motto is &#8220;It&#8217;s better to light one candle than curse the darkness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7119936042MsoNormal\">This year&#8217;s honorees include the books <em>The Invisible Front: Love and Loss in an Era of Endless War<\/em> by Yochi Dreazen, <em>Jesus: A Pilgrimage<\/em> by Father James Martin,<em> I Forgive You<\/em> by Nicole Lataif and Katy Betz and <em>Eliza Bing is (Not) a Big, Fat Quitter<\/em> by Carmella Van Vleet., as well as the feature films <em>The American Nurse, Selma <\/em>and St. Vincent. TV side honorees include CBS&#8217;s <em>48 Hours: The Whole Gritty City, <\/em>The CW&#8217;s pilot for <em>The Flash, <\/em>Lifetime&#8217;s inspirational biopic <em>The Gabby Douglas Story<\/em> (about the U.S. gold medalist), Hallmark Movies &amp; Mysteries&#8217;<em> Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Christmas<\/em>\u00a0 and the PBS documentaries <em>POV: When I Walk<\/em> and <em>Sacred Journeys with Bruce Feiler: Lourdes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7119936042MsoNormal\">In addition, special honors went to Patrick Donohue, who created a school for children with traumatic brain injuries\u2014and to the ABC News docuseries <em>NY Med<\/em> which covered stories at New York Presbyterian Hospital\u2019s Weill Cornell and Columbia campuses that highlighted ideals like love, service, gratitude, and seeking fulfillment in helping others.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1432294636423_41132\" class=\"yiv9980641550MsoNormal\"><strong>Dunn deal.<\/strong> <span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1432294636423_41131\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1432294636423_41099\">UP TV has\u00a0greenlit a new series with the working title <em>Last Hope with Troy Dunn<\/em>. The show will follow Dunn, a real-life missing persons and relationship expert, as he tracks down lost loved ones and facilitates their reunions. \u00a0Produced by DunnDeal Studios, Last Hope with Troy Dunn is planned to debut in the fall. Slated for a fall premiere, the movie stars\u00a0 Kellie Martin (<em>ER, Life Goes On<\/em>) as a mother whose late husband communicates with her from above.
