Richards (Ignatius Press)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fans of\u00a0 J.R.R. Tolkien, specifically <em>The Hobbit<\/em> and <em>The Lord of the Rings<\/em> trilogy, and of freedom in general will probably enjoy this reflection on the Catholic author&#8217;s epic work.\u00a0 Co-authors Dr. Jay Richards, a Catholic, and Dr. Jonathan Witt, an Evangelical Christian, show how Tolkien\u2019s Middle-Earth novels championed liberty, trade and limited government, issues that, following the recent midterm elections, are obviously still relevant today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/What-Flowers-Remember-Shannon-Wiersbitzky-ebook\/dp\/B00OATJHKG\/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1415011004&amp;sr=1-3&amp;keywords=alzheimers\"><em><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"main-image\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ecx.images-amazon.com\/images\/I\/41O6F08LmLL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-v3-big,TopRight,0,-55_SX278_SY278_PIkin4,BottomRight,1,22_AA300_SH20_OU01_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"220\" \/><\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0 What Flowers Remember<\/em> by Shannon Wiersbitzky (Namelos)<br \/>\n<\/strong>This novel is particularly timely since November is National Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Awareness Month. <em>What Flowers Remember<\/em> tells the story of\u00a0 a young girl who, upon realizing that an elderly neighbor she loves has been diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s,\u00a0 involves her entire town in collecting his memories.\u00a0 As Wiersbitzky says &#8220;It is a story of love and loss, of a young girl coming to understand that even when people die, they live on in our minds, our hearts and our stories.&#8221; The book is targeted for kids between the ages of 10 and 14 but, actually, older teens and adults will enjoy it too.\u00a0 BTW, I interviewed Shannon Wiersbitzky&#8217;s a couple of years ago about her previous book <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1608981126?tag=beliefnetauto-20\">The Summer of Hammers and Angels<\/a>. <\/em>You can read that interview <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/faithmediaandculture\/2012\/08\/shannon-wiersbitzkys-talks-about-her-eventful-summer.html#\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"yiv1321992662yui_3_16_0_1_1415095974821_23155\">\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1415373870964_52210\"><em>Encourage one another and build each other up \u2013 <\/em>1 Thessalonians 5:11<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here\u2019s today\u2019s dispatch from the crossroads of faith, media and culture.
