Producer Pablo Jos\u00e9 Barroso launches Dos Corazones Films.\u00a0<\/span> <\/strong>A new player in the world of independent film and TV development, finance and production has emerged out of Mexico as producer Pablo Jos\u00e9 Barroso\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>has <\/span>launched the independent production and finance outfit Dos Corazones Films. <\/span><\/p>\n

Headquartered in Mexico City, Dos Corazones is a film and television production company with a vision toward making positive, high-end<\/span> English-language films and TV series for a worldwide audience. Barroso will run the company as CEO, with producing collaborator Claudia Nemer serving as COO. <\/span><\/p>\n

With a mandate to serve as a top-tier supplier of mainstream projects for the studios, networks, digital platforms and major independent distributors worldwide, Dos Corazones aims to develop\/finance\/produce two to four films a year and one to two television series. The company’s <\/span>single-picture investments in movies will range from $10 million to $50 million, depending on the project. Television investments will hover in the $5 – $10 million range. <\/span>Backed by private equity sources out of Mexico, there reportedly will be no set restrictions on how or where they allocate capital thereby allowing for maximum flexibility in sourcing projects and material and collaborating with various partners to build a diverse slate.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company is said to be devoted to fostering an artist-friendly environment for top filmmakers, show runners and talent, the company will focus on making films and TV series with positive messages and family values but may greenlight some quality R-rated as long as they promote positive and meaningful values.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company’s opening slate includes:<\/p>\n

Max & Me – <\/em>An animated feature\u00a0recounting the true story of Maximilian Kolbe, a <\/span>Polish priest who sought to protect Jews during the Nazi invasion of his country in World War II. The fill will feature a script by <\/span>Bruce Morris (Disney\u2019s Pocahontas, Hercules<\/em>) and a voice case that includes David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place, How I Met Your Mother<\/em>), Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga<\/em>), Neal McDonough (Minority Report, Captain America: The First Avenger<\/em>), and Hector Elizondo (Last Man Standing, The Princess Diaries<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Maccabees<\/em> – A live action feature about <\/span>the Jewish revolt against the Greek-Syrians, led by Judah Maccabee. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Cave<\/em> – A TV series about near death experiences.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the launch of the company, Barroso, whose credits include the 2012 historical epic For Greater Glory<\/em><\/a>, said \u201cWe are a company that puts material first and will develop and explore inspiring stories and find a way to bring them to the big screen.
