Throw in CBS&#8217; serial killer-obsessed <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Criminal_Minds\"><em>Criminal Minds<\/em><\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/faithmediaandculture\/2012\/09\/homeland-star-mandy-patinkin-reveals-why-he-left-cbs-criminal-minds.html\">which original star Mandy Patinkin wisely quit<\/a>) and other shows of its ilk and you get a bloody picture of how far the medium of television has fallen.\u00a0 Does anybody really believe such programming can be beneficial for society?<\/p>\n<p>TV writers, producers and programmers have such a fantastic God-given opportunity to put positive ideas into the culture &#8212; to promote compassion, empathy, honesty, personal responsibility and forgiveness.
