NBC is set to be the first of the broadcast networks release it fall schedule next week but already the peacock has announced some early pickups that include:<\/p>\n<p><em>1600 Penn<\/em> &#8211; A single-camera starring Bill Pullman as U.S. President Dale Gilchrist who also\u00a0 presides over a dysfunctional family. (Please spare us a lot of inane, supposedly edgy,\u00a0 jokes about the family&#8217;s last name.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Animal Practice<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0 Another single-camera sitcom, this one about a <em>House<\/em>-like who loves animals but can&#8217;t stand their owners.<\/p>\n<p><em>Go On\u00a0<\/em> &#8211; Also a single-cam sitcom, Matthew Perry stars as &#8220;irreverent-yet-charming&#8221; sportscaster who suffers a loss and finds comfort in group therapy.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hannibal<\/em> &#8211; This drama follows serial killer Hannibal Lecter&#8217;s relationship with a young FBI agent who is &#8220;haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers.&#8221;\u00a0 (Along with Showtime&#8217;s <em>Dexter<\/em>,\u00a0 that puts next season&#8217;s number of TV shows with serial killer leads at 2 &#8212; which, of course, is 2 more than we need.)<\/p>\n<p><em>The New Normal<\/em> &#8211; Yet another single-cam sitcom. This one, from<em> Glee<\/em>&#8216;s Ryan Murphy, is about a gay couple and their relationship with surrogate mother of their baby.<\/p>\n<p><em>Revolution &#8211;\u00a0 <\/em>An epic drama from J.J. Abrams (<em>Lost<\/em>) about a &#8220;a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist<em>.&#8221;\u00a0 <\/em>(Finally something on this list I might actually want to watch.)<\/p>\n<p><em><em>Save Me &#8211; <\/em><\/em>Yes, another single-camera sitcom. Here, Anne Heche stars &#8220;a woman who lets herself go while in a broken marriage goes through a transformation where she becomes the best version of herself and creates miracles along the way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about these and other network in development @ <a href=\"http:\/\/thefutoncritic.com\/devwatch.aspx?series=&amp;network=nbc&amp;daycode=2&amp;statuscode=1&amp;genre=&amp;studio=\">The Futon Critic<\/a>. <em><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Delta grounds Daily Shows ads. <\/strong>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/online\/delta-pulls-advertising-from-the-daily-show-catholic-league-rejoices\/\">Mediaite<\/a>: <em>While many of us were busy fighting smaller battles, the Catholic League has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/the-catholic-leagues-campaign-against-jon-stewart-has-officially-begun\/\" target=\"_blank\">following up on its promise<\/a> to campaign against <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/power-grid\/person\/?q=Jon+Stewart\">Jon Stewart<\/a> for his \u201cvagina manger\u201d segment. And not in vain, it seems, because Delta Airlines has pulled its advertising from The Daily Show. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.catholicleague.org\/delta-drops-jon-stewart-no-new-response-from-kelloggs\/\" target=\"_blank\">In a press release<\/a>, the League\u2019s president, Bill Donohue, said, \u201cI encourage everyone to choose Delta the next time they fly. We need to support advertisers who act responsibly.\u201d BuzzFeed confirmed with Delta spokesperson Leslie Parker, who said, \u201cWe are constantly evaluating our advertising strategy and at this time no longer advertise during The Daily Show\u201d \u2014 but \u201cdenied that the decision had anything to do with \u2018any opinions expressed\u2019 by the show.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Programming Note:<\/strong> I\u2019ll be guesting on Jason Jones\u2019 Great Campaign program, talking about faith, media and culture, this Friday (May 11).
