The network announced one-fifth, or 30 staffers based in New York and Los Angeles, are being laid off.<\/em>..<em>Just last week, OWN pulled the plug on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/Rosie-O-Donnell-profile.html\">Rosie O\u2019 Donnell<\/a>\u2018s short-lived daytime\u00a0show.<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Comment:<\/strong> Discovery Communications, the financial backer of the network, is reportedly set to take a more hands-on roll.\u00a0 Prior to these announcements, on January 4th to be precise, I offered <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/faithmediaandculture\/2012\/01\/five-suggesions-for-bringing-oprahs-ratings-challenged-tv-network-into-its-own.html\">my &#8220;own&#8221; RX for the struggling channel<\/a>.
