Here are today’s dispatches from the crossroads of faith, media and culture.

1.  Music from The Way makes its way to CD. The soundtrack from the excellent and intelligent faith-based movie (trailer below) is now available from Ignatius Press and features 21 songs, including tracks from James Taylor (Country Road), David Gray (My oh My), Alanis Morissette (Thank U) and Nick Drake (Pink Moon).

2. Support the Macs! While strong box office competition has pushed The Mighty Macs out of theaters across the country, the movie is still available to come back to your local theater. If you are interested in supporting the film about the historic Immaculata College women’s basketball team of the early 1970’s, you’re urged to contact DemandIt@TheMightyMacs.com! Theaters are looking for a commitment of 250 tickets. If you know of a school or Church or organization who would be willing to rally together to make this possible, go for it! Also, if you have a smaller organization, group, team or school, the supporters  of the movie will work to identify additional groups in your area and get them on board. BTW, I still think there’s  a potential TV series here.

3. CBS takes aim at a revival of The Rifleman. Traditional westerns seem poised to make a big comeback next season on television with seeral pilots in the works. One of the more interesting ones to (at least to people my age) may be this one, as reported first by Deadline Hollywood. I still fondly remember coming home from school and watching the reruns of this classic show about a widowed rancher (and master marksman) raising his son in the old post-Civil War west.
