\"\"<\/a>You’ve already heard about the absurd claims being made by an atheist group that’s trying to get a cross removed from a new museum at Ground Zero in NYC.<\/p>\n

I’ve\u00a0explained the unbelievable arguments<\/a> put forth in the lawsuit by American Atheists<\/a> – a lawsuit that charges that their plaintiffs are experiencing “depression, headaches, anxiety, and mental pain and anguish” – not from the devastating destruction of life caused by the terrorists on 9\/11 – but as a “direct and proximate result of the unconstitutional existence of the cross.”<\/p>\n

As we move forward in preparing our amicus brief to defend this cross in court, it’s not surprising that an overwhelming majority of Americans understand and support what’s taking place at Ground Zero. A new poll reveals that 72% of Americans favor including the cross<\/a> in the memorial on the World Trade Center site – that’s three out of four Americans. Beliefnet’s Senior Editor Rob Kerby\u00a0reported about this poll and explored this issue at his blog here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Americans get it. This cross, surviving steel beams that rose out of the ashes of the collapse of the World Trade Center, is a symbol of hope, a symbol that has provided comfort to so many who suffered the devastation of the 9\/11 attacks firsthand. Most Americans reject this faulty legal ploy by American Atheists to remove this cross.<\/p>\n

And, tens of thousands of you already have signed on to our Committee to Protect the Ground Zero Cross, which will become part of our amicus brief to be filed with the court. But, time is short.
