Consider what’s at issue here: A cross formed by two intersecting steel beams that survived the Twin Towers collapse on 9-11.

We’ve produced a short legal summation of the lawsuit which is posted here. The entire complaint, posted here, makes a ridiculous claim. It claims their plaintiffs are suffering both physical and emotional damages from the existence of the cross. That’s right, the mere existence of the cross has brought on headaches, indigestion, even mental pain. And one of the plaintiffs, Jane Everhart, derided the cross as nothing more than “ugly piece of wreckage” that “does not represent anything … but horror and death.”

Talk about offensive.

This cross memorial is a part of 9-11 history – a symbol that has deep meaning and serves as a powerful remembrance. The cross – not just a symbol of our faith, but also a symbol of our freedom. In addition to the baseless claims made in the lawsuit, the facts are clear: this kind of memorial does not violate the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution. Most Americans understand this kind of challenge is nothing more than another spoke in the wheel of the anti-God strategy used by these atheists groups. And, most Americans don’t want atheists re-writing our Constitution.

We’re confident the court will see this suit for exactly what it is – a flawed filing that is a waste of time and a waste of judicial resources.
