\"\"<\/a>There’s a debate going on whether Israel should launch a preemptive strike against Iran, before that troubling nation can ready its nuclear arsenal.<\/p>\n

President Obama didn’t really break any new ground in his recent meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Obama did tell Netanyahu that “we got Israel’s back.”<\/a> But he did not make any promises to back a military strike by Israel. He said more efforts should be put into the use of sanctions against Iran.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu made it clear that time is running out. He said he would never let Israelis “live under the shadow of annihilation” and as he put it, “none of us can afford to wait much longer.” He strongly asserted that he “will never gamble with the security of Israel.”<\/a><\/p>\n

The question now being debated in many circles – does Israel have the legal authority to launch a preemptive strike against Iran?<\/p>\n

I have written a couple of articles on this topic. Some legal experts suggest that there’s no legal justification for Israel to act. I disagree and counter that argument in a post here<\/a>. Without question, Israel has the legal authority to protect its country – its people – from an from an enemy that vows to wipe Israel and the Jewish people off the face of the earth.<\/p>\n

As I assert in my opinion editorial which appears in\u00a0Israel National News<\/a>, “a preemptive strike by Israel would be fully legitimate once Israel has determined that Iran’s nuclear program constitutes an imminent threat to Israel and its security, something that only Israel can do for itself.”<\/p>\n

International law is clear. And it gives Israel the green light to take the military action needed to stop Iran.<\/p>\n
