Now, more than 40 members of Congress are urging Holder to step down over the program known as Operation Fast and Furious – a problematic program by the Department of Justice (DOJ) that cleared the way for thousands of guns to be taken to Mexico – a move linked to the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent.

What’s become clear in all of this is that the Attorney General has either not been forthright with Congress about what he knew, or he was simply out of the loop – not informed about this dangerous program. Either way, it’s a problem. The Attorney General is ultimately responsible for Operation Fast and Furious.

That’s the point I made in an interview about this issue with Megyn Kelly of FOX News, which you can view here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNy9eEU4UeE&feature=player_embedded

As the number of members of Congress seeking Holder’s resignation continues to grow, there’s now a letter being sent to President Obama urging the President to demand Holder’s resignation.

The letter, drafted by Rep. Joe Walsh of Illinois, urges the President to follow through on a promise he made to hold officials responsible for bad decisions that led to Operation Fast and Furious: “We ask you to fulfill this promise to the American people because, like you, they are upset and deserve answers.” the letter states. “They also deserve accountability on behalf of their federal officials, especially those who are unelected, like Holder.”

The DOJ says the Attorney General acted “responsibly” and called for an investigation when it came to his attention.

Now, another troubling report – this one from The Daily Caller – a report contending that the DOJ and Attorney General Holder actually manipulated the news media for favorable coverage about Operation Fast and Furious.

Each day seems to bring new questions about the Attorney General – what he knew and what he did not know concerning Operation Fast and Furious. He’s scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary Committee in early December to take more questions about this botched program.

Whether any of this is clarified further remains to be seen. But what is clear, the push for Eric Holder to leave the Attorney General’s post won’t end any time soon.

Jay Sekulow

The pressure is intensifying for Attorney General Eric Holder to resign.
