It came with a slice of homemade sourdough bread.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis salad is good,\u201d she told her friend in a tone of disbelief, then added, \u201cAnd I want this cinnamon roll I see on the menu.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the waiter came by to ask how everything was, the friend replied, \u201cIt\u2019s all very good, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The woman piped up and asked, \u201cCan I see one of you cinnamon rolls? I want one, but don\u2019t want a dry roll. Usually, the cinnamon rolls are dry at cafes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The waiter said, \u201cI\u2019ll bring you a roll and if you don\u2019t like it, I won\u2019t charge you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before the roll arrived at the table, the woman\u2019s friend quietly excused herself and went to pay the bill, making sure the cinnamon roll was paid for also.<\/p>\n<p>The cinnamon roll came to the table. \u201cWould you like some of this? I shouldn\u2019t eat it all,\u201d said the woman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo thank you,\u201d said the friend.<\/p>\n<p>The entire roll was devoured by the woman. The waiter came by and asked, \u201cSo, how was the roll?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was very good, thank you,\u201d said the woman with a heavy tone of approval.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scene on west coast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The wife walked into her home after a long day at work. Dinner needed to be made, not only for her and her husband, but also company. Two family members were visiting from the other side of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The wife went to the kitchen, followed by her sister-in-law. \u201cHow can I help?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>They looked in the refrigerator and found leftover lettuce, cabbage and sourdough bread. \u201cI\u2019ll slice, butter, and toast the bread, if you cut up the lettuce and cabbage,\u201d the wife answered.<\/p>\n<p>They went to work slicing and cutting, discussing their day.<\/p>\n<p>Along with their husbands, they all sat down for dinner. After a brief<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/everydayspirituality\/2013\/05\/exploring-prayer.html\"> prayer<\/a>, they ate and talked about the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/everydayspirituality\/2014\/05\/soul-sense-has-the-upper-hand.html\"> flowers <\/a>they planned on planting in the garden.
