I’ve been free of the social media site, Facebook, for almost a year now, during which 99.9% of the time, I’ve never looked back.

I was a Facebook user for about 5 years, first signed up by Trafford Publishing, publisher of my book, 21st Century Science and Health.

The reason I quite Facebook was because it was a test of my willpower throughout the day and every day. I battled a constant urge to check my account.

But, I had no desire to tell people what I ate for a snack. I had less desire to read what someone else ate for a snack. And in reality, it didn’t seem to serve as a key driver to growth for my small business, Healing Science Today.

Yesterday however, I was tempted to sign up again for a free Facebook account. A recent study released by Linkedin (another social media site), reported that Small and Medium Businesses (SMB’s) are positively affected by social media. I’ll keep weighing the pros and cons, but for now, progress forward comes a lot easier when I can focus on the new project at hand, rather than check Facebook and see what other people are doing.

From 21st Century Science and Health, “Human willfulness breeds evil continually, and is not a factor in the realism of being. Truth, not the willful flesh or animal instinct, is the divine power which says to disease, “Quiet! Be still!”[1]

It is only productive to exercise human will-power in subordination to Truth. Human-will has the tendency to misguide our decisions and bring out inferior tendencies. It is the function of spiritual sense to direct man and woman. Mistaken human thoughts injure our body, and even injure others.

“Human will-power is liable to all evil. The willfulness of human mind can never heal the sick. Contrastingly, the exercise of spirituality—hope, faith, love—is the prayer of the righteous.
