If I had two wishes, I know what they would be
\nI\u2019d wish for roots to cling to, and wings to set me free;
\nRoots for inner values, like rings within a tree,
\nAnd wings of independence to seek my destiny.<\/p>\n

Roots to hold forever, to keep me safe and strong
\nTo let me know you love me, when I\u2019ve done something wrong;
\nTo show me by example, and help me learn to choose
\nTo take those actions every day to win instead of lose.<\/p>\n

Just be there when I need you, to tell me it\u2019s all right
\nTo face my fear of falling when I test my wings in flight;
\nDon\u2019t make my life too easy, it\u2019s better if I try
\nAnd fail and get back up myself, so I can learn to fly.<\/p>\n

If I had two wishes, and two were all I had
\nAnd they could just be granted by my mom and dad;
\nI wouldn\u2019t wish for money or any store-bought things
\nThe greatest gifts I\u2019d ask for are simply roots and wings.<\/p>\n
