They aid readers to more quickly grasp information according to time.<\/p>\n<p>Timelines can also collapse time. Let me explain.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible spans millenniums. Taking the event of ascension, a timeline can be drawn that includes Enoch, Elijah, and Christ Jesus. Apparently, none of these three men died, yet they lived in different eras. Enoch \u201cWalked with God and was not.\u201d (Gen. 5:24) \u201cElijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.\u201d (II Kings 2:11) \u201cThen the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven.\u201d (Mark 16:19)<\/p>\n<p>Enoch\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Elijah\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Christ Jesus<\/p>\n<p>___I___________________________I_________________I__________<\/p>\n<p>Fold the timeline together and I can see the idea of ascension is alive and well, not confined to a period in time or to one person.<\/p>\n<p>The same idea extends to divine healing.<\/p>\n<p>Hannah was barren for years. After being prayed for, she bore children (I Samuel 1). Elisha heals polluted waters (II Kings 2). Peter and John healed a lame man (Acts 3:1)<\/p>\n<p>Hannah\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 Elisha\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Peter and John<\/p>\n<p>________I_______________________________I__________________I____<\/p>\n<p>Collapse the timeline and the idea of healing is found alive and well throughout all time.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I can also be a skeptic. Biblical people have an upper-hand right? Why? I don\u2019t really know, it\u2019s just that the Bible is set up as though the writers are special, more special than us. But, this is not so. I can easily collect more information and add to the timeline of healing and walking with God.<\/p>\n<p>John Wesley, founder of the Methodist faith, prayed for, and received, divine healing. Wesley was also acutely aware of the mid-18<sup>th<\/sup> century social conditions and encouraged a practical ministry that advocated healthy lifestyles and cleanliness.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Baker Eddy, a 19<sup>th<\/sup> century spiritual leader left behind documented evidence of successful healing through the power of spiritual understanding.<\/p>\n<p>As the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century opened up, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithwigglesworth.com\/\">Smith Wigglesworth<\/a> was found traveling the world, giving many proofs of divine healing.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-20<sup>th<\/sup> century, Charles and Frances Hunter ministered to thousands of people, healing many who needed it.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve experienced<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/everydayspirituality\/2011\/07\/continued-intro-to-cheryl-petersen-8.html\"> divine healing,<\/a> and continue to feel encouraged as time collapses and God\u2019s power is seen as effective today as it was yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>John Wesley\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Mary Baker Eddy\u00a0\u00a0 Smith Wigglesworth\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 Hunters\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 me<\/p>\n<p>\u00ad\u00ad___I__________________I______________I____________I________I____<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Timelines present a chronological sequence of related events along a drawn line.
