On my way to an interview, I called for directions and was told, \u201cI live on Del Ave.,\u201d then was asked, \u201cDo you know where Del Ave is?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d I answer scanning the map in my mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrive over the Bridge and turn left,\u201d came the answer.<\/p>\n

I did so in my mind map and replied \u201cOh, you live on Highway 18.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d was the retort.<\/p>\n

My mind immediately ignored Highway 18 and started looking for other \u201clefts\u201d to take on my mental map but was getting nowhere. The speaker continued to talk and finally I said, \u201cThat really sounds like Highway 18.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, Del Ave. does turn into Highway 18, I mean, yes it is Highway 18,\u201d was the comeback.<\/p>\n

I roll my eyes and go get the interview yet ask myself\u2026Do I sometimes know the details of a subjec<\/a>t so well that I neglect to see the bigger picture and thus confuse others?<\/p>\n
