It didn’t turn out because I have a habit of not following the recipe. I threw in the ripe banana lying on the counter and I added some bran flakes for fiber. Oh, I also reduced the sugar. Not surprisingly, the cake looked great but fell after I took it out of the oven. It was rather doughy inside.

I stared at the cake. Do I throw it out?

After tasting it and concluding the cake was still edible I broke up the cake into large clumps. I then mixed up some eggs, milk, coconut, confectioner sugar, and whole cranberries and poured on the top cake. I baked it for about 9 minutes and whala, delicious pudding cake.

When life turns out to be a flop, don’t throw it out. Look at the situation honestly and listen for a new radical idea outside the current conventional context, but within the realm of divine Mind, and find a new purpose.

The key is not to let the human ego take over the situation. The human ego will keep you busy trying to change the flop life into the life that should have been but doesn’t exist. Our spiritual mindedness however will respond to the reality of Life divine. We read in II Corinthians, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come.”

Healing through Christian Science mental treatment begins with divine Life and ends with divine Life. Prayer is used, not to change mortal life, but to wake up to spiritual Life. And, because God is our life, prayer will reveal a truth about God. Such as the truth that God did not create human beings, but spiritual beings. Or, that life doesn’t have a beginning and end, but is continuous.

I made a cake from scratch the other day.
