My name is Mary, and I am the author of this blog. I am a wife and a young mom to two toddler girls. During the day, I spend most of my time at home with my girls. I love being home with them; I love being a mom; and I love managing my home (most of the time).<\/p>\n<p>I am also a work-at-home mom. As a freelance writer, I have more freedom to manage my schedule my way and that has given me the ability to parent my way as well. I love that! At the same time, being a work-at-home mom has been quite the adjustment. I left my outside of the home job a little over three months ago and I am still working hard to figure out what my new normal looks like for our family.<\/p>\n<p>This new tension of managing my professional and personal life in the same space of our home has evolved into some of the inspiration behind creating this space. I have been thinking a lot about what modern motherhood looks like and I have come to one conclusion: modern motherhood looks different for every mom! Some moms stay at home with their children full-time; an increasing number of women are managing home and work in the same space; many moms have part-time or full-time work outside of the home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mom.me\/blog\/23122-8-rites-passage-modern-mom\/\">Modern moms<\/a>\u00a0are all so different, but our differences do not need to be a reason for division. We can find unity in the common threads of our love for our children, our shared faith, and our vision of being a part of a better world. And our differences? Do we ignore the, or pretend they don&#8217;t exist? No! I see so much benefit in embracing our differences and learning from one another, becoming better wives, mothers, and citizens along the way.<\/p>\n<p>I write about motherhood all of the time, about breastfeeding and meal planning and discipline techniques. But in this space, I want to spend more time writing about the heart of motherhood. \u00a0And I want to explore what it means to be a whole woman\u2014to be a wife, friend, employee, artist, and person of faith\u2014at the same time.\u00a0I am excited and a little terrified to be writing here. I am nervous to tackle topics I honestly feel largely unqualified to tackle but I am excited to dig a little deeper into writing about passion topics of mine.<\/p>\n<p>You can expect a post here two to three times a week.
