McGill

Have you ever heard the saying, “less is more?” Did you know if you decluttered your life, you could actually welcome more abundance? Why? Because you will create more room; more space for better things.

It’s time to get rid of the baggage that you have been carrying around for years and open yourself to bigger, better opportunities that will enhance the quality of your life. It’s time for you to remove the parts of your life that are bringing you down and keeping you from living to the fullest.

Here are five ways to declutter your life to welcome more abundance.

1. Start by removing the clutter in your physical space. This includes your desk at home and work, your car and in your house. Grab a few boxes and a big trash bag and start clearing out stuff you haven’t used or even thought about for the past six months. Dig deep in your closet and donate clothing you haven’t worn in a year or more. It is absolutely freeing to get rid of stuff that has just been taking up space for years.

2. Spend some time thinking about the relationships in your life. All of them. There are probably some relationships that are not healthy or maybe the person brings you down or influences you to do things that are not in line with your moral standards. It is time to exit those relationships. Make an effort to be a better friend, spouse, daughter, son, mother or father to the relationships you do have.

3. Give yourself a health check. Should you be eating better? Maybe you have a habit that is making you sick and possibly shortening your life while negatively impacting your quality of life. Make a commitment to drink more water, eat more veggies and do a little more walking. Your physical health will improve and you will feel better mentally and physically.

4. And then give yourself a mental health check. Your mental health may be negatively influenced if you are carrying around feelings of guilt, resentment or even hatred. It is time to get rid of those feelings so you can allow yourself to feel happiness. Consider seeing a professional or writing a journal to purge those feelings once and for all.

5. If you are in debt or know you have some bad spending habits, it is time to button up the finances. You can dig your way out of debt by buckling down and making a concerted effort to avoid overspending. If you need help establishing a budget that will help you get out of debt, consider talking with a free credit counselor. Getting rid of debt is one way to lift a burden that weighs down so many.

About Alex Blackwell
Alex Blackwell is a father, husband and writer.

“Abundance is a process of letting go; that which is empty can receive.” – Bryant H.
