\"kp44gb-082909scbandshirt.jpg\"<\/span>Yep. This is my high school…and my marching band<\/a> (any fellow former band nerds out there?)<\/p>\n

I have to say, I loved going to high school in little ol’ Sedalia, Missouri. Sure it’s a small town, but small towns are the best — and dare I say, small, Midwestern <\/i>towns are even better.<\/p>\n

However, I couldn’t believe it when I read that these innocuous band t-shirts had been re-called due to their reference to evolution. You know, basically re-opening that whole 1926 Scopes trial<\/a> thing.<\/p>\n

In my mind (and I’m going to bet in many others’) there is a wealth of difference between a scientific theory\/debate and a religious belief. Besides, I can tell you from personal experience that this scientific debate is already discussed in the school’s science courses. So why should these t-shirts cause such a fuss?<\/p>\n

Here’s one quote from the article that especially caught my eye:<\/p>\n

Pollitt said the district was required by law to remain neutral on religion.<\/p>\n

<\/i>Well, that’s true. But since when is evolution religion?<\/p>\n
