It was a gray day yesterday, with a little drizzles, but the rays of sunlight trying to appear through the clouds drew me outside.  There was a chill through the door as I made my way out, perhaps overdressed with a heavy winter coat and hood, and double-lined gloves.  I just don’t like to be cold or wet!<\/p>\n

The grass was still in dormant stage, the trees in winter hibernation. Did I see the pussy willow bush sprouting, or were those buds frozen remnants of last fall?  I walked up to them – yes!  It was some sign of spring to come!<\/p>\n

I walked around to the little daffodil and crocus beds.  Nope, not a thing yet.  But wait, was it a tiny green shoot pushing its way through the finger of snow yet to melt?  Yes, it’s a new green dart of life to come!<\/p>\n

Up to the fruit orchard.  Poor little dwarf trees, struggling to take.  We planted them almost two years ago; they’re still alive but small.  A remaining leaf from the fall clung to a childish branch.  Underfoot, the ground felt hollow.  What are these little mounds of dirt?  Oh my… moles.  Perhaps that’s why the trees are still struggling; moles are eating them alive from below.  The roots are in a desperate war.  Something to add to my “to-do”list, with urgency.<\/p>\n

I kept walking.  Up the hill, stretching my legs and arms with each step.  Faster, faster.  It was work, but the kind that’s good work.  It felt good to stretch my limbs.  I felt like I was emerging from a long winter hibernation.  My roots: my legs and toes and feet, are burrowing into the earth.  My arms: my branches, are reaching for sunlight.  My lungs expand with the fresh air.  My blood is oxygenated, my muscles and flesh renewed.<\/p>\n

Spring isn’t far.   After a long winter’s rest, I too am on the verge of blooming.  It feels good to be alive and renewed for a summer to come, filled with growth and abundance.<\/p>\n
