Yesterday, I took the risk of stating an opinion about the
\nhigh risk of weight loss surgery. 
\n<\/span>I am so glad I did.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The comments
\nso far are very interesting, and I’m really glad to hear from some people who
\nhave had the surgery and done well with it.  <\/span>I’m relieved to hear these stories, especially ones that
\nspeak their truth about how successful yet how difficult it was; that it wasn’t
\na “quick-fix,” and that major changes have to be made along with the surgical
\ninterventions.  <\/span>Thank God you are
\nOK, and getting better.  <\/span>I’m so
\nhappy that you’re alive to tell your stories!  <\/span>How wonderful to lose weight.  <\/span>I also am really happy to hear from those who bravely posted
\nthat they’ve been to dieticians and nutritionists, and not just doctors and
\nsurgeons.  <\/span>I pray that the changes
\nin health will be long lasting, and that your recovery will be complete and
\nthat you will never endure any complications. I fully believe the folks who
\nsaid God led them to it.  <\/span>Sure, for
\nsome, it may be a totally last resort, and may be successful.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, I sure have heard a lot more stories for years and
\nyears about those who didn’t do well, and even reports of people who died from
\nthem.  <\/span>I’ve done a lot of research
\non this subject for many years.  <\/span>I
\nstill am not in favor of weight loss, weight-reduction, bariatric surgery.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let me make my point again – and I’ve seen this
\ntime-and-time again – facts are that many hospitals and doctors do weight loss
\nsurgery because they make a lot of money. 
\n<\/span>This is a great-unpublished truth, and the ones who do it aren’t
\nadmitting it. They don’t want you to know. The Las Vegas Sun article I quoted
\nwas all about the money involved: to\/from insurance companies, surgeons,
\nhospitals, and Medicare.  <\/span>From the
\nquestion of money, I believe weight loss, or bariatric surgery is way too
\ndangerous and certainly not worth the risk at any cost.  <\/span>Many times the surgery ends without
\nmuch aftercare.  <\/span>I realize this is
\nan unpopular opinion, but that’s OK!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Several readers have posted “shame on you.”  <\/span>That happens pretty often here, and I
\nguess it’s part of the job.  <\/span>Of
\ncourse, that’s their opinion, but I don’t accept any shame for stating mine.  <\/span>I am committed to writing and posting
\nthe very best information and helpful tips I can gather for you.  <\/span>I am professional, and sincere.  <\/span>I do my research. Some people like to
\ntrash me, and try to shame me. 
\n<\/span>That’s more about them than it is about me.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I care about you, dear reader, so I cannot honestly in my
\nheart or mind recommend weight-loss surgery.  <\/span>It’s too risky and there are much better approaches.  <\/span>That’s just my opinion, though.  <\/span>I value yours whether we agree or not.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Don’t forget, I come from the experience of losing and
\nmaintaining a 160-pound weight loss without medical intervention or
\nweight-reduction surgery.  <\/span>I come
\nfrom a position of spiritual intervention, or you might call it soul surgery, as
\nI too tried everything, but nothing worked except God’s love and care.  <\/span>Along with total surrender to God, I
\nwork hard to keep the weight off, utilizing the best in nutrition, healthful
\nhabits, exercise and “re-creation,” emotional therapy, spiritual practices,
\ncommunity support…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I cannot please all the hundreds of thousands of readers who
\nfollow my work, even though I’d like to. 
\n<\/span>I can give you my honest, educated opinion, from the perspective of
\ngreat care and consideration, and a lot of experience and study.<\/p>\n
