\nimmediately stop using Hydroxycut products by Iovate Health Sciences
\nInc., of Oakville, Ontario and distributed by Iovate Health Sciences
\nUSA Inc. of Blasdell, N.Y. Some Hydroxycut products are associated with
\na number of serious liver injuries. Iovate has agreed to recall
\nHydroxycut products from the market.<\/p>\n
The FDA has received 23 reports of serious health problems ranging
\nfrom jaundice and elevated liver enzymes, an indicator of potential
\nliver injury, to liver damage requiring liver transplant. One death due
\nto liver failure has been reported to the FDA. Other health problems
\nreported include seizures; cardiovascular disorders; and
\nrhabdomyolysis, a type of muscle damage that can lead to other serious
\nhealth problems such as kidney failure.<\/p>\n
Liver injury, although rare, was reported by patients at the doses
\nof Hydroxycut recommended on the bottle. Symptoms of liver injury
\ninclude jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes) and
\nbrown urine. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, light-colored
\nstools, excessive fatigue, weakness, stomach or abdominal pain,
\nitching, and loss of appetite.
\n
“The FDA urges consumers to
\ndiscontinue use of Hydroxycut products in order to avoid any undue
\nrisk. Adverse events are rare, but exist. Consumers should consult a
\nphysician or other health care professional if they are experiencing
\nsymptoms possibly associated with these products,” said Linda Katz,
\nM.D., interim chief medical officer of the FDA’s Center for Food Safety
\nand Applied Nutrition.”<\/p>\n
If you’ve been reading me for awhile, you know I am skeptical of ALL “diet” pills. I don’t take any, and regret having taken them in the past. They never worked for me; they were not the answer I was looking for. <\/p>\n
The ultimate answer was to connect to God, and then do a lot of work on my body, nutrition, and emotions by the grace of God. That can’t be made into a pill and bottled and sold at any price!<\/p>\n
