Different Memorial Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are in the U.S., we\u2019re celebrating and honoring those who are not here with us.\u00a0 The holiday was originally set to honor those dead from war and battles, but I like to remember everyone who has passed.\u00a0 I also like to remember to take care of myself so that I will have a long life, by learning from those who lived and made mistakes before me.<\/p>\n<p>So this Memorial Day, I say prayers for those souls who I once loved, and those who loved me.\u00a0 I thank God for my ancestors, who never knew me, but lived their lives as best they could, and loved one another in the process of this mysterious life.\u00a0 Generation after generation, my family, and those families by extension brought me here, and gave me the gift of God, my ultimate father (and mother), who gives me my life today, and the lives of others to come through me and my family.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of the usual giant feast of food, centering yet another holiday on mass consumption \u2013 just another excuse for overeating or even bingeing \u2013 I want to do something else.\u00a0 I want to do something active, use my body, and play to have fun.\u00a0 I\u2019m thinking of a game of badminton with friends and family.\u00a0 Not so taxing, no running, no high-exertion.\u00a0 Or a nice hike through the woods, appreciating and sharing the great outdoors, might be really energizing.\u00a0 Or playing some really cool, high energy tunes to get everyone dancing.<\/p>\n<p>As for the food, I want to do some healthier choices: green salad instead of mayonnaisey potato salad, broiled meat instead of fried, fruit salad instead of fatty cake.\u00a0 This way, it\u2019s a step towards a longer, healthier life, in honor of those who came before
