Yes, they agree on these top 10 foods as being good for us. With all the eating advice available, it’s nice when the experts agree on something! When I saw this in Healthy Living, I thought I would pass along the list

You are going to like #1 -Blueberries! Yes, buy them fresh and throw them on your cereal, eat them with whip cream (personal favorite) or by themselves. Blueberries are a power food, filled with antioxidants ready to help your brain and inflammation.

#2 No surprise when I tell you it’s the leafy greens. I’ll skip the Kale and stick with the spinach! I know Kale is good for the heart, but I have to like what I eat! The leafy greens provide vitamins A, C, and K, folate, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, lutein, and fiber with very little calories!

#3 Yes, yes, yes, God’s butter -the avocado. Mash up the guacamole and get a serving of the healthy fat and magnesium.

#4 For high fiber, reach for the beans. You’ll also get iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc.

#5 is something we put in everything. You can’t go wrong adding garlic to many dishes. It helps fight off colds, bacteria and viruses.

#6 is lemons which help with digestion, your immune system and cholesterol. Squeeze it into your drinks and on top of salads and fish.

#7 is chia seeds for fiber. Ok this one is new to me and I don’t even know if I’ve ever eaten these, or know how to buy them or eat them!

#8 Sprouts, a favorite on salads.

#9 Quinoa–it’s popular these days because it is a complete plant based protein.

#10 is wild, not farm raised, salmon because it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

So as summer approaches, make it a goal to eat well and add a few of these top 10 foods to your diet. A healthy you makes a happy you for those around you!

Remember the saying, “You are what you eat?” Our relationship with food matters, as the physical part of our lives certainly affects our soul and spirit.
