With the election just a couple days away, the man who is hoping to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives had a few things to say<\/a> recently about prayer: <\/p>\n

\n\"boehner.jpg\"<\/a><\/span>House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) has a grueling schedule, but election-year politics are not getting in the way of his prayer routine.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been praying all day, every day,” Boehner told conservative radio host Mike Gallagher this week. “Trying to make it through this election and make sure our team is successful.”<\/p>\n

Boehner is a practicing Roman Catholic, and has in the past joined with Democrats, notably the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), to support Catholic charities.<\/p>\n

“[Prayer] does work,” Boehner told the host. “You’ve just got to stay at it every day and build a closer relationship with our Savior.”<\/p>\n

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who is also Catholic, told Fox News in 2007 that she prays for many things and people, including then-President George W. Bush. But, Pelosi said, she was taught that she should not pray for a political outcome.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
