Some members of the media got a preview of the site at Ground Zero,<\/a> slated to open in two years: <\/p>\n

Never has a dusty, ear-splitting construction site – the museum is scheduled to open on Sept. 11, 2012 – appeared more peaceful, haunting or heartbreaking:<\/p>\n

“My knees get wobbly, it takes my breath away,” said Paula Grant Berry, a museum board member who lost her husband on 9\/11. “You can still feel the presence of the towers here.”<\/p>\n

Yet the sense of terror is never far away: “We are standing in a place where mass murder took place,” said Museum Director Alice Greenwald. “We are standing in a battlefield, a place where terrorists struck, a place that will always be a hallowed and sacred space.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
