Those icons of the ’70s, James Taylor and Carole King, are hitting the road, and have just released a live concert album. They’re chatting up their tour in Monday’s New York Times.<\/a> But you can see the results for yourself below. <\/p>\n

After nearly 40 years, they sound almost exactly the same — and Carole King, nearing her 70th birthday, is just plain amazing.  There is sweetness here, and poignancy, and a genuine love for this piece of music that helped to define them both, way back when.  <\/p>\n

And I’ll only add something my parents would have said when they<\/i> were my age, listening to songs from their<\/i> youth: they don’t write them like this anymore.  (I feel like such an old fogey.)<\/p>\n
