Author Phillip Jenkins has even argued it is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/story\/128\/story_12800_1.html\">&#8220;the last acceptable prejudice.&#8221; <\/a> <\/p>\n<p>And now, Melanie McDonagh takes to the pages of the New Statesman in Britain to  explore <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newstatesman.com\/200712060027\">this phenomenon<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>  It is worth asking in passing whether Jews could now be depicted with the same idiom as is now being deployed against Catholics.
