You can read all about it in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cathstan.org\/main.asp?SectionID=2&amp;SubSectionID=2&amp;ArticleID=1776\">Catholic Standard<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>And the Archdiocese of Hartford in Connecticut just welcomed <a href=\"http:\/\/catholictranscript.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=505&amp;Itemid=1\">eight new deacons<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p> Archbishop Henry J. Mansell, the ordaining prelate and principal celebrant of the ordination Mass, was joined by concelebrating priests while almost 70 deacons witnessed the ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>In his homily, Archbishop Mansell said, &#8220;We celebrate today a culture of faith, love and service, which makes a difference this day and every day, as those here today follow the example of the Lord Jesus Christ himself who, as we read in Mark 10:42b-45, \u2018did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Archbishop thanked the families of the new permanent deacons, particularly their wives, for the support they have given over the years in service to the Church. He also thanked all those involved in the liturgy and preparation of the day\u2019s event.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say that, in a culture that hungers and thirsts for compassion and kindness, the deacon is called to take part in the mission of the Church by addressing injustices and healing a broken world through his words of hope and deeds of charity. He added, &#8220;All that we have comes from God and all we are doing goes to God.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Candidates Michael Donon Haines, George Edward McCarroll, James Patrick McCluskey, Joseph Patrick Marenna, John Thomas Nugent, George Gerard Sartor, James Michael Sullivan and Jeffrey Brandwyk Sutherland promised obedience to the Archbishop and his successors, and prostrated in prayer before the altar.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> Congratulations and welcome, brothers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And the ordinations continue!
