For all those empty-nesters and parents coping with kids trudging back to school, this prayer’s for you:

A Parent\u2019s Prayer <\/span> <\/span><\/strong> When A Daughter Leaves Home<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>
Gracious God,<\/span> you blessed me<\/span> with the gift of my child<\/span> <\/span>
and entrusted me<\/span> with her care.<\/span> <\/span>
Now she leaves this home<\/span> and begins a new life<\/span> apart from me.<\/span> <\/span>
Surround her<\/span> with good people<\/span> and watch over her each day.<\/span> <\/span>
And let her know that I will always be near<\/span> <\/span>
whenever she may need me.<\/span> <\/span>
Heal any hurts we may harbor with one another<\/span> <\/span>
and forgive our failings<\/span>
as we learn<\/span> to be in a new kind of relationship with each other.<\/span> <\/span>
And when the sight of her empty room<\/span> <\/span>
pierces my heart with sadness,<\/span> <\/span>
may I find comfort in knowing that my child is your child too,<\/span> <\/span>
filled with your grace and sheltered by your love.<\/span>
