After getting a lot of inquiries over the last few months — including one just today — I decided to add a new sidebar feature to the blog: Books About Deacons.<\/p>\n

<\/span>It’s just a start, but I hope to add to it in the weeks and months to come. It’s in the right hand column, right under the Notable and Quotable<\/span> section. If you click on the book title, it will take you to a description of the book from the publisher, and give you information on ordering it. Most titles, right now, are from Paulist Press, which has been very proactive in creating a “Deacon Library.” (I’ve also blurbed a couple of their books, and can attest that they are a great introduction to the vocation.) <\/span>If anyone else out there knows of some worthwhile books on deacons, especially for those who are discerning the vocation, please don’t hesitate to let me know! Just drop me a line. <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>I hope this will be a helpful resource to people who wander by The Bench looking for information.<\/p>\n
