{"id":2729,"date":"2008-10-07T17:59:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-07T17:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/deaconsbench\/2008\/10\/some-brilliant-financial-advice.html"},"modified":"2008-10-07T17:59:00","modified_gmt":"2008-10-07T17:59:00","slug":"some-brilliant-financial-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/deaconsbench\/2008\/10\/some-brilliant-financial-advice.html","title":{"rendered":"Some brilliant financial advice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Worried about these perilous times? <\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/artandthecatholicchurch.blogspot.com\/\">brother deacon<\/a> sent me the following financial tip: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p> If you had purchased $1,000 of Delta Air Lines stock one year ago, you would have $49 left. <\/p>\n<p>     With Fannie Mae, you would have $2.50 left of the original $1,000.<\/p>\n<p>     With AIG, you would have less than $15 left. <\/p>\n<p>     But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drunk all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have $214 cash. <\/p>\n<p>     Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle. <\/p>\n<p>     It&#8217;s called the 401-Keg<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> Works for me.  <\/p>\n<p>And sort of gives a whole new meaning to the concept of &#8220;Joe Six-Pack.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Worried about these perilous times?
