For Father’s Day, a paper in Salt Lake City ran a terrific profile<\/a> of a deacon with a young and growing family. How does it do it? <\/p>\n

<\/a>Being a parent is not easy. Now try combining it with being a full-time worker, a graduate student, and a deacon. The secret is to \u201chave a good balance in life,\u201d said Deacon Scott Dodge, who is all of the above and more \u2014 and to have a very supportive family. \u201cI could not do half the things I do if it weren\u2019t for my wife Holly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know he\u2019s got a lot going on, so we try to schedule time to spend together,\u201d said Holly Dodge, his wife.<\/p>\n

Sometimes that quality time is spent in the cathedral, where Deacon Dodge and his family serve. \u201cMy three school-age children go to the Madeleine Choir School and come here after school,\u201d said Deacon Dodge, who was excited to share that his family is increasing. \u201cWe also have a two-year old son and are expecting a baby boy in October,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Deacon Dodge says he is proud of being able to give his children opportunities he did not have, and of exposing them to the teaching of Jesus. \u201cThey know they should be kind to others and treat them how they\u2019d like to be treated. They know however, they cannot expect the same treatment,\u201d he said. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
