This one comes from Msgr. James P. Moroney, of St. Paul&#8217;s Cathedral in Worcester, Mass.  I read this over and had one of those blissfully envious moments where I thought, &#8220;Wow.  I wish I&#8217;d written that.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/whispersintheloggia.blogspot.com\/2008\/11\/in-principio-erat-verbum.html\">a snip<\/a>, on the subject of Advent, and waiting: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p> We all ache for God, and we wait\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The addict in the alley behind the Cathedral waits:<br \/>for a God who will come and remove all that enslaves him..<\/p>\n<p>The single mother waits:<br \/>for the day when she longer has to work 54 hours,<br \/>when she can sleep eight,<br \/>and when she\u2019ll finally know the kids will be ok.<\/p>\n<p>The soldier in a ditch in Iraq waits:<br \/>for a morning when there are no more explosions of IEDs,<br \/>and every look is not feared as the precursor to an assault,<br \/>and you don\u2019t have to bury your new best friends.<\/p>\n<p>The old man in the nursing home waits:<br \/>for the day he will no longer be alone,<br \/>when pain will no longer be his most constant companion,<br \/>and when he can once again rest in the embrace of her whom he loved.<\/p>\n<p>The prisoner on death row waits:<br \/>for a place where he will no longer be seen as evil,<br \/>for a life that makes sense,<br \/>for a time when love can be given and received,<br \/>for the coming of a God who will love him.<\/p>\n<p>The investment banker waits:<br \/>for the day when he\u2019s not gripped by the fear<br \/>that he\u2019s about to lose everything,<br \/>for the day when he can count his value<br \/>in the quality of his love rather than the size of his profit.<\/p>\n<p>The little child waits<br \/>within her mother\u2019s womb:<br \/>for a world that will welcome her.<br \/>and parents that will love her,<br \/>and a country who will protect her.<\/p>\n<p>We all wait in joyful hope, with baited breath, as we gaze toward the Eastern skies in expectation of the one who rises with healing in his wings\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Exiled in a Babylon of our own selfishness, we cry out: \u201crend the heavens, O Lord, and come down to us!\u201d Yet he waits for us in that confessional, ready to embrace us pick us up on his shoulders and carry us home to himself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> Gorgeous.
