\n\n\n Obama Certifies Military Ready for \u2018Don\u2019t Ask\u2019 Repeal<\/h3>\nBy Jim Garamone
\nAmerican Forces Press Service<\/p>\n WASHINGTON, July 22, 2011 \u2013 Based on recommendations from military leaders, President Barack Obama has certified to Congress that the U.S. armed forces are prepared for repeal of the \u201cDon\u2019t Ask, Don\u2019t Tell\u201d law.<\/p>\n There is a 60-day waiting period before the repeal goes into effect, so the law will officially come off the books Sept. 20.
