Bella Robertson Mayo, the youngest daughter of Duck Dynasty<\/em> stars Willie and Korie Robertson, is opening up for the first time about a deeply personal struggle: infertility.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview ahead of the premiere of Duck Dynasty: The Revival<\/em>, Bella, 22, and her husband Jacob Mayo, 26, revealed that they\u2019ve faced a challenging journey toward parenthood\u2014one that has remained private until now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe share a story of infertility in the show, and that\u2019s something that we haven\u2019t really shared publicly that much,\u201d Bella told Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cI think people just don\u2019t know what they\u2019re talking about or who they\u2019re talking to. When you just look at someone on social media, you can\u2019t know what anyone\u2019s going through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since their wedding on a Louisiana farm in June 2021, Bella and Jacob have faced ongoing questions from fans about when they plan to start a family. But the couple explained that, despite appearances, it hasn\u2019t been a simple road.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish getting pregnant and having kids was as easy as people act like it is,\u201d Jacob said. \u201cJust, \u2018Oh, I can just pop out a kid\u2019 or \u2018If we want to wait, we get to choose to wait.\u2019 It\u2019s not that transactional of a thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cWhen people say stuff, it\u2019s just like, if it was easy or if it was easy not to, we would. But it\u2019s not that simple, I would say.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bella echoed that sentiment, saying, \u201cWhen people comment about us having kids, we\u2019re like, \u2018Trust me, you don\u2019t have to ask us.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple initially hesitated to bring their fertility journey into the new reality series but ultimately felt led to do so as an act of authenticity and encouragement for others who may be silently struggling.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was not an easy decision,\u201d Bella admitted. \u201cI don\u2019t think we necessarily intended on sharing it even, but it felt right. \u2026 This is just one of the ways that we are showing up and being our authentic selves on this new show.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI think that we both felt like if we could help anybody \u2014 especially, what are the odds that we\u2019re on this stage where we can share something that is so real for so many?\u201d<\/p>\n

Their willingness to share comes at a time when infertility affects millions. According to the World Health Organization, around 17.5% of the global adult population\u2014about 1 in 6\u2014experience infertility. In the U.S., roughly 11 percent of women and 9 percent of men of reproductive age face the same issue.<\/p>\n

Christian leaders like DawnCher\u00e9 Wilkerson, who leads VOUS Church with her husband, Rich Wilkerson Jr., have also spoken openly about the pain of waiting and loss. After enduring eight years of infertility, Wilkerson said she learned the value of community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would encourage anyone going through loss to not isolate,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s not about the words that are said but about having people who love you stand with you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quoting Jesus\u2019 words in Matthew 5 \u2014 \u201cBlessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted\u201d \u2014 Wilkerson emphasized that God\u2019s comfort often comes through His people: \u201cYou\u2019re blessed when you\u2019re part of the community of God\u2026 even in your deepest, darkest pain, you will receive comfort from those around you.\u201d<\/p>\n
