A military family is stating their request for a move change is being blocked after what she described as months of \u201cstonewalling\u201d by the US military. Amanda Johnson is a military wife and mother of 5, including a newborn and a set of twins. Johnson\u2019s husband, Marine Capt. Hunter Johnson, serves in the Navy and has recently been assigned to Peru, with his family seeking permission to move with him. However, according to a post<\/a> by Johnson, her family had been blocked from the request for months due to her children not having all the recommended vaccinations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are 30 days out from our overseas move & the Navy hasn\u2019t cleared my children because they aren\u2019t following the ACIP jab schedule. We are in limbo and have been waiting for months for a determination,\u201d wrote Johnson. She added that her husband had spent his paternity leave making calls to clear all the hurdles. \u201cOur children have not been, and will not be, enrolled in childcare. My wife is fully devoted to their daily care. We homeschool using Time4Learning and limit exposure to institutional illness risks,\u201d her husband wrote to Navy Medical<\/a>. \u201cPeru has no vaccination requirements\u2026 My continued presence is essential to our family\u2019s stability. This is not a deployment, it\u2019s a PCS [permanent change of station].\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Johnson echoed her husband\u2019s statements. \u201cThe Navy is saying because our children do not follow the CDC\/ACIP schedule (the covid-19 shot is on here as well), our children are not medically suitable,\u201d wrote Johnson. \u201cAnd if we want to keep our family together, they must get *every* shot on the schedule.\u201d She called the situation, \u201cThe dark irony of military families being stripped of their freedoms in exchange for their father\u2019s sacrifice protecting American freedoms\u2026 shameful.\u201d The recommended vaccination schedule is not a requirement for the Navy, which meant the delay had \u201cno basis in policy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were told that our children are not suitable solely based on their vaccination status. Even after my husband sent a prevention letter explaining our health plan overseas, they still denied us,\u201d Johnson told Fox News Digital<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWe’re not breaking any rules,\u201d she said. \u201cPeru doesn\u2019t require vaccines, and Navy policy doesn\u2019t either. We\u2019ve done everything right, but, still, we\u2019re stuck. My husband\u2019s chain of command supports us and keeps asking, \u2018Who do we need to call?\u2019 But there\u2019s no one. No officer has ever called us from Navy Medical. We haven\u2019t worked with a single point of contact on our case.\u201d<\/p>\n
