Pop star Justin Bieber was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in 2022 and took months to fully recover.

According to the Mayo Clinic, recovery from facial paralysis can vary. Some conditions like Bell’s palsy often improve with time and therapy, while more severe causes may require medical treatment, therapy, or even surgery. Common treatments include physical or occupational therapy to rebuild strength and coordination in the facial muscles.

Lil Nas X, however, appears to be on the mend. In an April 15 update, he shared that he’s been working on strengthening the affected muscles. “I’ve been chewing a lot so I can get this muscle stronger,” he said. “It’s much better.”

He added that while his right eye still needed to “play catch-up,” he could now manage a genuine smile. “I’m still winking at mothaf–kers,” he joked, showing his trademark sass and light-hearted resilience.

This latest health scare comes as the artist prepares to release his next album, Dreamboy, later this year. He dropped the EP Days Before Dreamboy in March, offering a taste of what’s to come in his evolving musical journey.

In December 2023, Lil Nas X announced he was entering his “Christian era,” expressing a deepening spirituality over the past few years. “I’ve just become a very spiritual person over the last few years,” he shared in an interview with Interview Magazine . This new phase includes music with Christian themes, such as his single “J CHRIST,” which he described as a tribute to “the man who had the greatest comeback of all time” .

As fans continue to root for his recovery, Lil Nas X’s story reminds us that even in moments of unexpected trial, maintaining a positive spirit can be a powerful part of healing. While Christians may not always align with the rapper’s public persona or messaging, his determination and transparency in a vulnerable season remind us that each of us is walking a journey in need of grace, healing, and hope.

Let’s take a moment to pray for his full recovery, and for all those facing similar health battles—that they may find strength, healing, and peace during difficult times. “The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness” (Psalm 41:3).

Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X recently revealed he experienced partial facial paralysis, but he’s keeping his sense of humor and determination intact as he recovers.
