The actor said he equates Los Angeles to \u201cPavlovian anxiety,\u201d which is why he sought refuge and settled in New England, where he lived as a child.<\/p>\n<p>Evans told <em>GQ Magazine<\/em>, \u201cIt takes me back to a place when life was not just simpler &#8211; that\u2019s too reductive &#8211; but to a time where I was more pure, I guess; where my ego and my insecurities weren\u2019t such a dominant force that I had to push against.\u201d Evans added that anxiety almost altered his career trajectory and role as Captain America. The 42-year-old actor was \u201capprehensive about taking the role initially,\u201d sharing that he said no before saying yes.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI remember in my late 20s having a real shift in how I felt on set, how I felt promoting films: a little more anxiety, a little more uncertainty. You always end up questioning, \u2018Is this what I should be doing?\u2019 I\u00a0just wasn\u2019t sure if I was moving closer to myself or further away. And something inside me kept saying that I was getting further away\u2014 that something about this industry wasn\u2019t healthy.\u201d The Sudbury, Massachusetts native has spoken openly about his willingness to leave the acting world.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tT7IQe_i3N8?si=d15CpV9bhrcThBrk\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He admitted, \u201cI could just make furniture for nobody and be happy. I don\u2019t want to\u2014I\u2019ve got to frame this the right way. I was going to say I don\u2019t want to waste too much time in this industry, but that doesn\u2019t really feel&#8230;. That doesn\u2019t sound correct. I don\u2019t want to occupy too much space in an industry I\u2019ve already poured 20 years into. Sometimes I wonder if I\u2019m lacking some sort of\u2014like, I think I\u2019m a very driven person. I have a lot of energy. I wake up early, I get a lot done in a day, but it\u2019s not always focused on acting. Sometimes, reading a script is the last thing I want to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, when it comes to revisiting the Marvel Universe, Evans said he isn\u2019t sure. He said, \u201cYeah, maybe. I\u2019ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I\u2019m also very precious with it. It\u2019s something that I am very proud of. And, like I said, sometimes I can\u2019t believe it even happened. And I wouldn\u2019t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab, or if it didn\u2019t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn\u2019t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Evans and his longtime girlfriend, Alba Baptista, recently got married during a ceremony at a private estate in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The guest list included some of the actor\u2019s Marvel co-stars, including Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner.
