Sports analyst Terry Bradshaw joined the \u201cToday\u201d<\/a> show and opened up about his battle with two different cancers. He had revealed<\/a> on Fox Sports in October that he had been privately battling bladder cancer and a Merkel cell tumor for several months. There had been speculation about his health after a September episode where he was struggling to breathe. \u201cI couldn\u2019t breathe. That\u2019s when everybody notices. \u2018What\u2019s wrong with him?\u2019 Social media went, \u2018Get rid of him. He needs to be off the air. He\u2019s an embarrassment.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Embarrassment? I got cancer,\u2019\u201d he recalled about the time after that episode aired. He\u2019d been initially diagnosed with bladder cancer in November 2021. After that was cleared, he began to experience some \u201cnerve pain\u201d and he was diagnosed with a Merkel cell carcinoma in March 2022. He revealed his diagnoses October 2nd<\/sup>, stating he was now cancer free.<\/p>\n

During the \u201cToday\u201d episode, Bradshaw reflected on his emotions during his treatments. \u201cI wasn\u2019t scared,\u201d he said to the surprise of NBC\u2019s Harry Smith. He also stated that his Christian faith helped him to remain positive. \u201cAs a man of faith, as a Christian, my attitude was, \u2018Well, if I go, I\u2019m OK. If I stay, I\u2019m OK,\u2019\u201d he said. Bradshaw had previously opened up about his faith during an interview with CBN<\/a>. \u00a0After discussing how depression, ADD, and failed marriages had turned him away from God, he told CBN he had finally turned back. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t until ten years ago, Father\u2019s Day, that I really got saved. I mean, I had one of those great, wonderful, salvation moments in my life. It was one of those moments that I knew that God\u2019s spirit had moved into my heart, and into my life and had grabbed and taken control of me, and you know what? I couldn\u2019t, I couldn\u2019t escape it. Because I learned that God forgave me.\u201d<\/p>\n

He told \u201cToday\u201d he didn\u2019t initially reveal his diagnoses due to his \u201ccelebrity\u201d status and fear that it comes off wrong when celebrities reveal their health battles. \u201cI didn\u2019t talk about it because I didn\u2019t want pity. I didn\u2019t talk about it because a lot of celebrities \u2014 unfortunately, I\u2019m one of those \u2014 when they say this, I think the perception around America with all the millions of people is, \u2018Aw, look at him. Bless his heart. He has cancer. Well, my husband died of cancer! My kids are\u2026\u2019 I didn\u2019t want that. It took a long time before I told my family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He praised his wife, Tammy Bradshaw, for her support. \u201cI can\u2019t put into words how thankful I am for her,\u201d he said. \u201cSeriously. I can\u2019t imagine not holding her hand when we take off on a plane or when we land or when we snuggle up when we\u2019re in bed together. I look at her and she doesn\u2019t know I\u2019m looking at her, and I\u2019m so thankful now I\u2019m getting emotional.\u201d Tammy, who has been married to Bradshaw since 2014, shared her own experience during her husband\u2019s health scare. \u201cThe doctor calls me to tell me what it is, and then I\u2019m shook because I was a radiation therapist for 10 years. I knew where this could go. I knew what the outcomes could be. And it did scare me the second time with that diagnosis,\u201d she told Harry Smith. When asked if she ever cried about it, she stated, \u201cIn front of [Terry]? No.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terry stated that he was feeling like his old self and the couple are planning a trip to Europe.
