\"Astrology:<\/a>I completely freaked out when I turned 28. At the time I thought it was just some kind of existential crisis about nearing the age of 30, but now I know it was related to my Saturn Return.<\/p>\n

It’s pretty common to hear about people making drastic life changes in the years from around 28-30 — people have epiphanies, quit jobs, leave marriages, go back to school, have babies, etc. and so on. Anything to shake it up, and find more meaning in their lives.<\/p>\n

What many don’t realize is how universal this phenomenon is, and how it’s actually related to the planet Saturn — the cosmic taskmaster who teaches us how to align our values with our goals and put them into action.<\/p>\n

Saturn takes about 29 years to orbit the Sun, so when we each turn about 29, Saturn returns to the same part of the sky where it was when we were born — this is called our Saturn Return, and we can feel it for a couple of years before and after it actually happens.<\/p>\n

There’s a lot of upheaval in life during these years, but it’s really just about coming into alignment with your true life path.<\/p>\n

For example, if you married the wrong man when you were too young to realize what you were doing, as I did, you’ll probably figure that out right around your Saturn Return. Or if you majored in communications when you really want to be a veterinarian, you’re bound to start dreaming of going back to school during these years.<\/p>\n

The Saturn Return can be a time fraught with frustration, anxiety, depression and even desperation, but this all serves to get you thinking and moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n

That’s certainly true for me. Those years were among the most difficult of my life, but looking back I can’t even imagine a life in which those painful decisions hadn’t been made — and I’m grateful I had the courage to make them or my entire life would be less fulfilling now.<\/p>\n

I’m sure those of you older than 30 know exactly what I mean. The rest of you will have to trust me that your Saturn Return is working for you rather than against you, and it will all shake down for the best in the end.<\/p>\n
