I’m fascinated by all this…
Are you aware that some people are now refusing to pick a name for their newborn babies until they know that the domain name is available?
I’m not kidding.
Besides leaving the hospital with a birth certificate and a clean bill of health, baby Mila Belle Howells got something she won’t likely use herself for several years: her very own Internet domain name, according to HappyNews.com
Likewise newborn Bennett Pankow joined his four older siblings in getting his own Internet moniker. In fact, before naming his child, Mark Pankow checked to make sure ”BennettPankow.com” hadn’t already been claimed, a story on the HappyNews website said.
”One of the criteria was, if we liked the name, the domain had to be available,” Pankow said. It was, and Pankow quickly grabbed Bennett’s online identity.
“A small but growing number of parents are getting domain names for their young kids,” the story at HappyNews.com said. “It’s not known exactly how many, but the practice is no longer limited to parents in Web design or information technology. They worry that the name of choice might not be available by the time their babies become teens or adults, just as someone claimed the ”.com” for Britney Spears’ 11-month-old son before she could.”
The trend hints at the potential importance of domain names in establishing one’s future digital identity, the story went on.
Wow. That’s all I can say. Wow.
I realize there’s nothing very spiritual about today’s blog entry. I just had to make note of this, however. I mean, it caught my eye and I could not believe it. Wow. Just…wow. Things are…

…moving so fast in our world; changes are occurring so rapidly. But I never thought I’d see the day when what we named our children depended on whether we could secure their Internet identity.
You realize the implications of this, of course. There will be no more “common” names ever given to anyone. And the more that even “uncommon” names are taken in the world of Domains, the further and further parent’s are going to have to stretch to come up with a New Baby Name with an available Domain. I can see it already in about ten years….
Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Halstead are pleased to announce the birth of their baby, Xenexia Plathorford Halstead. Her vital statistics and her First Picture may be accessed at Xenexiaplathorfordhalstead.com.
The chances of there being a Xenexia Halstead are one in a million, I would have to guess. But the changes of there being a Xenexia Plathorford Halstead have got to be astronomical…say, one to the power of somethingorother?
Well….I got NealeDonaldWalsch.com while the gettin’ was good, so I’ve got no worries. Now my GRANDchildred? That’s another matter…
Hmmm…

creates, for us all, a chance to meet at the interaction of Life and the New Spirituality.
