\nThe great and the small,
\nThe meek and the powerful,
\nThe short and the long,
\nThe subtle and the gross:<\/p>\n
May all beings everywhere,
\nBoth seen and unseen,
\nDwelling far off or nearby,
\nBeing, or waiting to become:
\nMay all be filled with lasting joy.<\/p>\n
Let no one deceive another,
\nLet no one anywhere despise another,
\nLet no one out of anger or resentment
\nWish suffering to anyone at all.<\/p>\n
Just as a mother with her own life
\nProtects her child, her only child, from hurt,
\nSo within yourself let grow
\nA boundless love for all creatures.<\/p>\n
Let your love flow outward through the whole universe
\nTo its full height, depth, and broad extent,
\nThen, as you stand or walk,
\nSit or lie down,
\nAs long as you are awake,
\nStrive for this with a onepointed mind:
\nYour life will bring heaven to earth.<\/p>\n
