Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is hailing the country’s reportedly first domestically-built drone bomber<\/a>, which was unveiled Sunday.
\nAhmadinejad described the long-range, unmanned aircraft as an “ambassador of death” to Iran’s enemies.
\n“But he also argued the drone serves as ‘a messenger of salvation and dignity for humanity’. The Iranian leader said it is aimed at deterring any act of foreign aggression,” Voice of America reported Sunday.
\nThe unveiling occurs the same weekend as Iranian and Russian engineers began loading tons of uranium fuel into the country’s first nuclear power plant, which will be internationally supervised.
\n“Iran’s agreement to allow the oversight was a rare compromise by the Islamic state over its atomic program. Western powers have cautiously accepted the deal as a way to keep spent nuclear fuel from crossing over to any military use. They say it illustrates their primary struggle: to block Iran’s drive to create material that could be used for nuclear weapons and not its pursuit of peaceful nuclear power,” reported Ali Akbar Dareini of the Associated Press<\/a>.
